Well... Experimenting and trying to find something new, I found a cheat code, or rather, Ai Deepseek. It said that if you press B UP UP UP B LEFT LEFT LEFT, then the player will immediately teleport to the city where we have to get rid of Ralsei and Susie. I decided to use this cheat code when I was here.
after that, as expected, I appeared in the city, but with one caveat... There was a final boss but red!
He was shooting green projectiles that can't do anything to the player. But at the same time, he can attack player with his body. What's even more strange is that the player can't beat him in any way. Even if you have lv 3. If you go further along the plot, in the sewers, everything will seem normal at first, until you move over.
Yes... There will be a second Kris without a head. And it can even be killed.
And yes, as we go further, we will meet this boss again! The only difference is that he has a blue tongue and not a red one. And he has first-phase attacks.
I'm just shocked that you can endlessly search for bugs like this, and it becomes fun that you can still discover XD
Changed: GUYS, I'VE BEEN DOING THE WRONG CODE ALL THE TIME! I was doing B UP UP UP B RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT all the time! If you make the code that I described above, the player will teleport to the ice castle.
i dont know if anyone else had this glitch, but in the second room after you get the ice mage, i froze two enemies at once, and when they turned to ice they overlapped. i pushed one to the side and accidentally pushed the other one up in the same motion, and after walking into it my game went black. really eerie.
This is some really good stuff. I think you might be able to get even closer to a 1:1 implementation on the SEGA Master System, especially since the CPU itself runs at 3.5MHz (3.57 NTSC, 3.54 PAL)
This games good but the hitboxes on the boss sucks cheeks and also why no eram and why the you remember this part shit just make the acurate one bro i dont want to "remember this part" and also i only got this to fight eram again because i was too lazy to go on deltarune and re s rank it all or atleast make the deltarune acurate one because i wasnt a big fan of it but it was still fun
1: its a half fangame 2: do you seriously think the NES would handle the amount of sprites (like shockwaves from bombs, fire orbs and the various ERAM clones with literal FIRE TRAILS)? for fuck sake the CPU clock speed of the NES is 1.79 MHz... for comparison we have long surpassed 1 GHz as our base clock speed TLDR;stop thinking developers can be fucking wizards and shut your trap
I'm having trouble getting through the part where it's the maze where the cloaked person leads the way. They just follow me, no matter the way I go. Can you help me?
I can sadly confirm that MANTLE's soundtrack breaks on the 3DS's pre-existing Virtual Console. If you want to have MANTLE on your 3DS, you have to choose the VirtuaNES or Nestopia option on NSUI.
10/10, holy shit this is genuinely amazing, the only complaint I have is the hitbox with the cactus and the stuff in the boss fight, which are easily overlooked with how you managed to put everything besides the secret boss into a real NES game. I actually really like the new boss instead of the mantle boss, does it have a name?
Thank you for your kind words! The new boss does have a name - I had originally planned to reveal it in a series of videos about the fangame's development, but video editing takes a looooong time! I think I'll be writing a large blog post about it sometime, and the reveal will take place there. In the meantime, it's fun seeing what names people make up for the boss!
4/5, (almost) perfect recreation of the mini games in game. great stuff, the only reason I take a point off is the immensely cringe dialogue changes which add nothing and just take away from the experience. the new boss is a neat addition however.
Finally, the real John Mantle (ashamed to admit it took me a while to make the connection) Your writing is good, I was moved! The hitboxes weren't a huge problem either, it was fun to go back to bootleg game days where you had to dance around the enemy like that.
But i discovered a glitch where in the second level during the first room where you can use the rafts. A flower enemy can knock you onto land, disabling your ability to move or get off the raft. Then when it kills you, you are still unable to move because the game thinks you are still on a raft.
But apart from the that I find the game tons of fun to play and highly accurate.
It's pretty fun but I did have some hitbox problems and if you die in the hidden area in the first section you are stuck with that colour palette. Still, its pretty impressive to be able to port this over in the first place, so I can't really complain that much
so like i found a cactus disguised as a block IF YOU'RE LEVEL 3 you can break this one block and it remains there for the rest of the GAME. no idea if it remains at the end but you can use it to skip the ENTIRE SECTION OF GLACIER so really good for speedruns :D
I tested this. You don't need to make glitchy block to make this skip. You just need to hit bottom in glaceir fish room, and it will somehow work. Huge and simple skip in fact, if someone will try it speedrun this game. (Sorry for late response, I was busy in last days, so I tested today this)
hes talking about the anniversary one, which was discontinued april 1st 2021 (my birthday). That one ran SMB, The Lost Levels, and a modified version of Ball.
who cares about chicken rice thats probably your favorite food and if you tried thinking that is his favorite food just stop, and maybe if you think you can make it decompile the game and ALL OF YOU GUYS STOP Begging for android ports it took a whole YEAR to get a baldi mobile port and even then IT SUCKED so if it doesn't have a android port GET A PC!
i found a bug in a cold place where if you hold diagonals in a locked room on a locked door after getting white cloak you transition to a non existing room of a black void...
So, after playing this for a while i fell in love with it, and while trying to "speedrun" it and playing around i found a couple of strange glitches, for example, if you go to the northern light island diagonally, loading two rooms back to back, this happens
pretty cool, i'll see if i can keep glitching this masterpiece
Well turns out it doesn't happen when loading two rooms back to back, i somehow got to load the dock room in the island and keep my position at the top corner, so i could load another room past the island
Such an interesting demake/fangame! Highly reccomendable! Even if you've played Sword Route to death and back! Actually, especially if you've seen nigh-all it has to offer!
I’m one of the outliers who knows really nothing about Undertale and the like, so I dunno the references. This was still really fun to play through. I missed a bit in the starting world - when I realized the sword could cut through trees, I wanted to see how you handled if some idiot like myself cut border trees and went to the next screen, or how many screens I could go. I happened to find a chest that took me to the next part lol.
The fact you not only took your time to make this demake, but also changed the story to fit your demake, and have its own message at the end... its actually peak wtf

I cant kill Susie :(

Really good, but uhh...
I've never played the Mantle part so I don't know what to do 🥲
just as the room says at the start, get stronger (kill the enemies, and proceed through the trees)

you don't need s rank, you can get z rank

Nevermind! Found it!

would this theoretically be able to run on an ACTUAL NES if you managed to get on a cartridge?
Yes! Some folks on YouTube have done it with flashcarts!

lmk whenever the blog post comes out, I'd love to hear about the development (I know the pain of editing videos too -_-)
how get on nes with no idea to put stuff with an nes cart

I'd love a version of this for the game boy color, I don't know how difficult that would be though.
maybe make deltarune-accurate version sometime? with eram and other stuff? would be really cool to see :)
can't kill the girl might've softlocked :/
you CAN its just extremely difficult
update: slash then immediately turn around to the girl
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing it! And thanks for posting the OST too.
This is actually incredible.

This was fun, I do plan to redo Chapter 3 and aim for an S rank to try this so ty for this game as an alternative
Keep up the good work. This project is very well done, and polished.
But i discovered a glitch where in the second level during the first room where you can use the rafts. A flower enemy can knock you onto land, disabling your ability to move or get off the raft. Then when it kills you, you are still unable to move because the game thinks you are still on a raft.

In the Shadows my Man Till played this. He told me it was good, but it took him a while to find the Sword's Route. It was kinda hidden.
but seriously, really cool demake! I'm thinking about porting it to the Game Boy. Nice job!
Good game.
Everything went well for me, I enjoyed it

UPDATE: it only works if you kill ALL OF THE FISH in that room
2nd update: nvm you dont need to kill all of them just go to the block directly
How it can be used to skip section? I found this (or simular) bug some time ago, but it's looks like just graphical bug.
dont ask me??? if you just attack the block in GLACEIR in the fish section it just thinks you're at the door and plays the dialog
I tested this. You don't need to make glitchy block to make this skip. You just need to hit bottom in glaceir fish room, and it will somehow work. Huge and simple skip in fact, if someone will try it speedrun this game. (Sorry for late response, I was busy in last days, so I tested today this)
oh
oh then the block was just there the entire time
so basically it acts as a cutscene wire for the glaceir door
I paired this with an NES injector for my 3ds and now i have mantle NES virtual console :D
i know this seems like really weird but would this work on the super mario bros game and watch?
no? a game and watch isn't for NES games and those aren't digital
hes talking about the anniversary one, which was discontinued april 1st 2021 (my birthday). That one ran SMB, The Lost Levels, and a modified version of Ball.
Hi! I really like seeing when people make fangames for old consoles like that
Is there any chance this could become Open-Source? (Maybe under GPL)
Thanks!
What is the final boss's name????
john e mantle
TWISTED.
It is not the thing that holds the Mantle. Be it ERAM, or John Mantle.
It will never be them.
Final chance you don't port Vanessa Substitution mobile port like keikev did or no chicken rice for you
what the hell are you doing here? let alone pestering ME about something i don't feel like doing?
Get out.
who cares about chicken rice thats probably your favorite food and if you tried thinking that is his favorite food just stop, and maybe if you think you can make it decompile the game and ALL OF YOU GUYS STOP Begging for android ports it took a whole YEAR to get a baldi mobile port and even then IT SUCKED so if it doesn't have a android port GET A PC!
and also ive looked at what you do you just make android ports and complain that things dont have mobile ports so just stop, please just stop
also I am talking to winaltorweilmod
what could this possibly have to do with mantle
The message at the end...
Such wise words...
Hahaha! Nicely done! Thank you for playing my little game!
I love this. Kinda short, as the source material but maybe we could do.. A sequel!!
I can say the ending to this is one I have never seen in any game.. except for one.. particular.. game..
i found a bug in a cold place where if you hold diagonals in a locked room on a locked door after getting white cloak you transition to a non existing room of a black void...
other than that very fun
Same.
pretty cool, i'll see if i can keep glitching this masterpiece
Whoa, that looks awesome!! Happy hunting, I'm sure there are plenty of glitches you can find in there!
Well turns out it doesn't happen when loading two rooms back to back, i somehow got to load the dock room in the island and keep my position at the top corner, so i could load another room past the island
This is really cool.
Such an interesting demake/fangame! Highly reccomendable! Even if you've played Sword Route to death and back! Actually, especially if you've seen nigh-all it has to offer!
Definitely a .nes for the ages!Thank you so much for your lovely words! I'm glad it struck such a chord with you!
This is really cool! what's the name of the... boss?

played this on my Wii u via nestopia in retroarch, works great! I died laughing when bro started eating my exp
